BBA Certification for Swisslab with Silkolitt

Alumasc Swisslab installed with Phenolic insulation panels and Silkolitt Silicone Render at St Leger Homes in Doncaster

Alumasc’s BBA Approved Swisslab External Wall Insulation (EWI) system is now approved for use with Silkolitt Silicone Render (BBA Certificate Number 93/2914 – Product Sheet No.s 1-3).  The new certification supports Alumasc’s extensive portfolio of BBA Approved façade systems and ultimately allows greater freedom to specifiers who insist on quality and peace of mind when selecting products.

Swisslab is the market leading insulated render system for overcladding existing properties. It is extensively used to upgrade social housing in order to meet the Decent Homes Standard and strongly contributes to urban regeneration. In addition to its BBA approval, Swisslab is a fully warranted system with a life expectancy in excess of 30 years and is endorsed by the Energy Saving Trust, appearing on their list of Energy Saving Recommended Products

When Silkolitt Silicone render is used with Swisslab, a striking, contemporary finish is created that is also suitable for new-build applications.  High performance Silkolitt is water-repellent, vapour permeable and weather resistant, available with a rolled texture offering 1.5, 2.5 & 3.5mm grain sizes in a wide range of colours.    In addition to the Swisslab EWI system, Silkolitt is also compatible with Alumasc’s other insulated render systems: Swisspan, Swistherm and Swisrail.

Swistherm Helps Leisure Centre Scoop BREEAM Award

Swistherm External Wall Insulation from Alumasc has played a key role in the sustainable design of the award-winning Bletchley Leisure Centre.

The centre recently won the Bespoke Category in the BREEAM Awards which recognise and reward the design and construction of the highest scoring buildings certified under BREEAM.

Alumasc’s approved installer Jordaya Contracting Ltd, installed 1800m2 of 160mm EPS insulation as part of the Swistherm insulated render system. The insulation was finished with Alumasc’s Silkolitt 1.5mm silicone render in blue and white to achieve an attractive ‘rolled’ effect finish.

Commenting on the project, Paul Sanders of Milton Keynes Council, said: “As a leading and expanding ‘New City’, we see sustainability measures as vital to developing successful communities and facilities in Bletchley. Achieving BREEAM Excellent was absolutely central to our requirements for the new leisure centre. This has provided a significant reduction in running costs.”
