EU CE Marking Changes

With establishment of harmonised standards for the commercialisation of building products in Europe the Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 came into effect from the 1st July 2013. These EU CE Marking Changes replace the currently applicable Directive 89/106/EEC.

The declaration of products along with the obligations and rules for the marketing of construction products will also change. The main changes to the CE Marking will be the documentation and markings of products as performance declarations are required from the 1st July 2013. These will replace the previous declarations of conformity.

The declarations of performance only take effect for building products for which an ETA or a Harmonised European Standard exists. This means a standard which has been made compulsory in all Member States of the European Union and thus constitutes the law.

The company VWS is currently working on the implementation of the EU policies for those construction products out of the assortment plaster and drywall profiles.

Products which are not, according to an European Technical Assessment or a harmonised
European product standard, are delivered without CE Marking.

The relevant declarations of performance, prospective and respective updates will be published on the VWS website.
