What is BIM?

BIM (Business Information Modelling) is a process that involves creating and using an intelligent 3D model to inform and communicate project decisions. Design, visualisation, simulation and collaboration enabled by Autodesk BIM solutions provide greater clarity across the project lifecycle.

Why use it?

Alumasc Facade Systems can provide designers with the latest in BIM technology to help them make the right decision when selecting the best system for their project. Using BIM can deliver better buildings, more quickly and at a lower cost than the traditional building process. It also reduces risk and can offer other benefits such as maintenance cost plans.

Benefits of BIM

Added Value

• Provides clients with a clear understanding and visualisation of the building
• On site, BIM offers more intelligent construction information and linked data on demand

Planning, Management and Control

• BIM provides a quick and effective way of visualising the design and build sequence
• Better planning is possible with visibility of a ‘virtual construction process’
• Building costs can be controlled by live cost planning
• Waste can be avoided as ordering accurate quantities saves money
• Better management is possible by storing building data in a central, intelligent 3D database

Alumasc’s support helps send local junior football team to St George’s Park

Woolston RoversAlumasc have begun its support of local junior football team, Woolston Rovers Bulldogs by sponsoring the clubs’ Under 12’s side, helping fund their trip to the England Football Teams National Headquarters at St Georges Park.

Alumasc are proud to be kit sponsors of the 9-a-side team and helped subsidise the trip. Additional funding was undertaken by the coaching staff, players and parents through various events including a race night and supermarket bag packing.

The 12 player squad visited the headquarters based in Burton on Trent, Staffordshire where they enjoyed a full tour of the brand new state of the art facilities, a two hour training session with an England coach and use of the England changing rooms. The day was concluded with each player being presented with their own, fully personalised, England kit.

The Bulldogs also got the chance to rub shoulders with professional football clubs including Championship side Norwich City, League One’s Oldham Athletic and Romanian outfit Steau Bucharest.

Woolston RoversSpeaking of the trip, Team Coach Mike Roberts said “The experience of enjoying such unique facilities will stay with the boys forever, the look on their faces as they entered the changing room to see their name and number on an England shirt was fantastic to witness.”

Team Manager, Jackie Thomson added, “We are very grateful to Alumasc for sponsoring our team which has allowed us to give this very special experience to our players which they thoroughly enjoyed and which I’m sure they will remember fondly as they grow up.”

Woolston Rovers Bulldogs play in the Warrington Junior Football league which is the largest of its kind in the country.  The club has 28 teams ranging from under 7’s through to under 18’s.  As an FA chartered club the Bulldogs team follows the ethics of junior football ensuring that all players are treated equally from the training given by qualified coaches to equal game time on match days.

Stewart Taylor, Alumasc Facades Sales Director said of the support, “We are proud to sponsor a locally based team which offers the same opportunities to all players regardless of their ability and it’s great to know that we helped them to enjoy what sounds like such an invaluable experience.”
