Alumasc’s Swisslab External Wall Insulation (EWI) system has been used to transform 65 residential properties in Hertfordshire, improving thermal performance and refreshing the external facades to recreate the 1920’s period features.
North Herts Homes required a solution that would make the properties more energy efficient whilst also restoring them to their former glory.
Following a consultation from Alumasc’s design team, Swisslab was used with phenolic insulation and finished in Silkolitt silicone render with a heavy textured 3.5mm drain top coat to get a close match to the original “slop dash render”. Acrylic brick slips and solar reflective X black paint were then used to create the finishing brick and mock-timber details.
In addition to the improved aesthetics, the combination of systems will make the properties warmer and will soon start to impact on the residents’ energy bills.

With further growth predicted for the housebuilding, healthcare and education sectors, Alumasc Facades has appointed three new Business Development Managers, bringing with them many years of experience and industry knowledge.

Mark Swift joins Alumasc Facades following 11 years at Kingspan Insulation, where he gained extensive knowledge of the commercial and domestic new build, refurbishment and social housing sectors. Mark is looking forward to utilising his knowledge and experience to deliver business growth. He comments:

Adam Griffin will be covering the South East of England. Adam has spent 20 years in Construction, with the last 10 years specialising in external facades where he developed extensive sales and technical knowledge of the render market in particular. Adam says:

I aim to use my experience and technical knowledge to further support Alumasc’s well respected facades systems along with their new product development initiatives, positioning us at the forefront of the industry moving forward.”
Completing the new team is Jo Checkley who will be covering London and boasts 27 years in the construction sector. Jo has previously held positions where she was responsible for Contracts/Project Management and Business Development. Commenting on her appointment, Jo says:
