Alumasc Facades welcomes the publication of a UK Addendum to an important European Guideline, regarding the application of External Wall Insulation (EWI). The EAE European Guideline for the Application of ETICS (External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems – the European term for EWI) has been revised with additional information specific to the UK market, compiled by the technical committee of the Insulated Render & Cladding Association (INCA).
Alumasc believes that the Addendum will help the EWI/ETICS industry fulfil their vital role in improving the energy efficiency of buildings. The Addendum sets out installation best practice and compliance with quality and technical standards in the UK – such as those set by certification bodies the British Board of Agrement (BBA) and the BRE.
Mike Threadgold, chair of INCA, said: “The UK Addendum provides the EWI industry with clear, easy-to-follow guidelines for installing EWI/ETICS in line with best practice. This will enable it to deliver the high-quality projects that are essential to the continued growth and development of the industry in order to meet the government’s carbon reduction targets. We are delighted that the document has been recognised by the EAE and it demonstrates that INCA and its members are at the forefront of technical excellence within the EWI industry.”
